Dr. Irvin Pretsky

Dr. Irvin Pretsky, second from left, established an endowed fund to support the Museum of Osteopathic Medicine.

In 2017, a thoughtful and heartfelt gift was contributed by Irvin Pretsky, DO, MD, a 1961 graduate of A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM), to create the Irvin Pretsky Family Endowed Fund for the general operations of the Museum of Osteopathic Medicine at ATSU. An additional gift from Dr. Pretsky in 2021 provided further fortification for this endowment. Dr. Pretsky was not only generous but also wise with his giving, since both contributions qualified as tax-favorable charitable IRA rollovers.

The purpose of the Pretsky Endowment is to provide valuable financial support to the Museum of Osteopathic Medicine. Since its creation, this endowment has provided the museum with several thousand dollars in spendable resources while simultaneously preserving and growing the endowment’s invested assets to help support the museum in the future.

Spendable allocations from the Irvin Pretsky Family Endowed Fund are used at the discretion of the museum’s director.

“The museum is more than a house for artifacts. It’s about what sets our profession apart from others and how it got that way. We must thoroughly be cognizant from whence we came and understand the circumstances as to how we evolved. I am deeply comforted knowing that my charitable gifts are helping preserve osteopathic medical history today for the benefit of future generations.”
